Class 2 - Miss Brooks

Welcome to Class 2

At Wearhead Primary School, our children Key Stage 2 are taught in Class 2. Our class teacher is Miss Brooks.

Children in Class 2 are in Years 3 to 6 and are taught at Wearhead Primary from Monday to Wednesday and work at St John’s Chapel Primary (to join with other children of the Durham Dales Federation) on a Thursday and Friday. Currently, there are nine children in the class across the whole age range of Key Stage 2. During federation days, Key Stage 2 children are split into two further classes: Year 3 and Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.

Within Class 2, children continue to develop their independent skills to progress their learning through a variety of learning styles. All children have an iPad allocated to them at the start of each year which can be taken home to complete homework tasks and to practise the basic skills using apps such as Doodle, TT Rockstars and Nessy.  Each child in the class also has access to their own laptop in school, which allows them to use the internet and produce work electronically.  Within the classroom there is a large library from which children can borrow books which are closely matched to their reading ability through Accelerated Reader.

Forest School sessions, PE lessons and break times allow the children the opportunity to use the outdoor environment surrounding the school in a more practical way. These sessions support the physical and mental well-being of our children, along with giving them the valuable skills they will need as they grow, including team work, resilience and leadership
